About the Author

I am a 20-something year old runner.  And girlfriend, daughter, friend, sister, granddaughter, coworker, natural movement advocate, and gin lover.  I am also a born and raised Buffalo sports addict, which has led me to many years of repeated heartache.  I went to school for music education, found myself a job in insurance, and re-kindled my love for running as soon as I got a spare second in my life.

I discovered my love of running in 6th grade, but I can’t recall how it started.  I signed up for modified track, I think I liked it, and I kept doing it.  Then I was convinced to run cross country my freshman year of high school, and I kept doing that.  I don’t know if I kept up with it because I loved it or because I was simply good at it with the type of competition I was pitted against; I was always the fastest at my school in all my events.

I ended up being recruited for three schools in my senior year of high school for the cross country team, but my love for teaching and music kept me from committing.  It’s funny looking back because now I have two degrees I’m not using and I didn’t even get a chance to compete at a higher level than I’ll ever have the chance to do again.  But everything happens for a reason, right?

This blog is basically my journey as a “born again” runner.  It all started with training for a half marathon, a goal I’ve had since I was in high school.  Now, the bug has continued — I strive for a faster half marathon, beating my 5k times from high school, and eventually qualifying for the Boston Marathon.  By no means does “Run Fast or Faster” mean I’m sitting here winning races or chasing after course records – I’m an occasional age grouper.  I like to run fast and push myself faster — all in relation to my own races and paces.

  1. Hi! Just found your blog – I’m from Buffalo as well!! I love your race recaps!! Do you have a coach in the area? I have been training on my own right now, but I’ve been considering getting a coach!


    1. Ohmygoodness, super fast is all relative! But thank you 🙂 I found that hill running (which is why I’m heading back to Chestnut Ridge regularly!) helped my speed more than anything else I’ve done.
