Building Blocks

Every time I considered opening up WordPress to write a post, I decided to nix it and instead opened up my canasta app and played some games instead.  That’s basically been my life lately. I should do x, y, and z but nah.

After taking about Buffalo, I mentioned having a plan that was exciting and I’d share soon. I did! I had a great plan! But nah.  See, my plan was to dedicate myself to this mile race series and also a 5k every couple weeks.  I was going to train for that, too. The problem is each race was anywhere from $25-$30 and both race series were 5-8 races long.  As much as I would love to do that, my bank account would laugh. And as much as I would love to use my credit card and deal with it later, the banks aren’t too keen on that when you’re going through there house buying process. Yes! I my pre-approval and am now in the official market!

It’s a small trade off for now.  I basically had to pick to save some more money in the meantime -a few races or another 10 pack of CrossFit?  I’ll let you guess what won out.

Mid-Fran (getting ready for thruster)

Lately my running had been slow (12:00/mi) with J and Dunkin for 2-3 miles every few days.  I’ve been lifting 2-3 days a week too and hitting PRs and seeing the difference in my body.  When I was training for a race, I couldn’t dedicate myself to my strength work at CrossFit because I was so sore. Let’s face it — I never have been a girl who throws weights around so it made me exhausted and sore!  Now, I’ve focused on my strength and it’s rare I’m too sore the next day…. finally!  Last week I did one class Tuesday (running based), a really intense class Wednesday, and then an Olympic lifting class right after and I was fine the next days.  I would never do back to back classes or days!

So no, I’m not running much but I am busy and still working out, just adjusting priorities.  Now that I finally have a base for strength training I feel comfortable adding running in, I just need to get my ass out of bed before work to do that!

Sometimes we take burst photos.

My goal is to not be as much of a stranger and start logging workouts again! Things are happening and I want to share!

  1. I’m so glad to see a post from you – I’ve missed your blogging! Exciting news about officially house hunting! That’s awesome that your making progress in CF and aren’t feeling too much soreness the next day.. I miss taking boot camp classes, but similar to what you mention, at this point I would be too sore the next day for running. Good luck with house hunting and hope to see more posts from you!

    1. Aww, thank you for your kind words! I miss reading yours too — when I fall off the blogging bandwagon, I do it hard. Hopefully soon things settle down and I get to catch up on both ends of the spectrum. It’s my goal!

  2. I’m glad to see you posted. I’ve felt pretty demotivated lately as well. I think about productive things to blog about…then don’t. That’s been my life ha ha. I love those photos of you running with your dog. So cute.
