Spinning Playlist (10.28, 10.30, 10.31, 11.2, & 11.3)

Yup, that’s right.  You get FIVE playlists this week because I picked up three classes for somebody who is on vacation.  Though since it was Halloween week and I taught at three separate gyms, I was able to get away with re-using huge chunks of playlists.  To condense though, I’ve combined Saturday and Sunday’s playlists.  On a side note, I love subbing new classes because I can use my all time favorite songs in one playlist, but if I did that in my typical class they’d be bored since they’ve probably heard one or two songs from it each class.

After discovering how much I disliked some of the songs on Monday, I re-did the entire Wednesday and Thursday playlist.  And after looking at this playlist, I think I played something different that I made on my phone and iTunes is wrong.

Sympathy for the Devil – Warm-up (not crazy about this song as a warm-up but whatever)
Thriller – Rolling Hills
E.T. – Hill, again
Monster Mash – Jumps
Ghostbusters – Jumps
Highway to Hell – Sprints (add it on, come out of the saddle in the chorus and sprint)
Jai Ho Tabata – 8 sets of 20 hard/10 rest
Abracadabra – Cool down

I think I can skip the first seven songs at this point (I told you they were similar!)
Girlfriend – Cadence (rider’s choice – pick a cadence, match some resistance with it, and get the workout in that you need at this point.  Quick and sustained with lighter resistance?  Heavy resistance and slower?  Somewhere in the middle?)
Lucky Strike – Sprints out of the saddle (add it on, come out on the chorus)
Bulletrpoof tabata – 20 hard/10 easy
Abracadabra – Cool down


Saturday, November 2nd, 2013 and Sunday, November 3rd, 2013
The above playlist is for the hour class on Sunday.  The 45-minute class Saturday is the same up until “Wings”, skips “Thunderstruck” and goes to “I Want You Back” then adds in “Stronger” (sprints out of the saddle), finishing with “Sweater Weather” as the cool down.

Dog Days are Over – Warm up
Spiderwebs – Intervals in the saddle (on chorus)
Ni**as in Paris –Fast hill
The Great Escape – Sprints (add it on, come out of the saddle for the chorus)
Can’t Hold Us – Cadence ride — fast cadence moving through all positions
Hey Mickey – Jumps every time you hear “Mickey” (unless the class is a less strong one, then we’ll cue jumps every 4-8 beats)
Bohemian Rhapsody – Rolling Hills (climb until guitar solo, downhill, climb to the finish)
Such Great Heights – Cadence ride — moderately fast verse, pick it up on chorus – no rest!
Wings – Sprints out of the saddle
Thunderstruck – Steady Hill in saddle and 3rd
I Want You Back – Fun, easy jumps (somewhat recovery song)
Everybody Talks – Intervals in the saddle
Born to be Wild – Cadence ride — rider’s choice here
Country Girl – (I like to amp this one up 12%+) fast hill with some sprints
Jai Ho Tabata – 8 rounds of 20 hard/10 easy
Sweater Weather – Continuing the cool down from the :45 at the end of the previous song

After teaching two months of 30 minute mini-spin classes, putting together a full hour class is a lot of work!  I can’t imagine how she does that for the same classes multiple times a week without riders getting bored or running out of songs!
